Admission and Finances

You need a certificate of secondary education. For example:

• Dutch havo or vwo certificate
• International Baccalaureate (DP & CP)*
• Abitur
• Fachhochschulereife
• Sekolah Menegah Atas (SMA)
• General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE-A level)
• Diploma de Bacalaureat
• Diploma di superamento dell’esame di stato conclusivo
• Título de Bachiller
• Diploma za sredno obrazovanie
• Świadectwo ukończenia liceum ogólnokształcącego or świadectwo dojrzałości

Your certificate is not mentioned here? No problem. Our admissions office decides if your prior education is sufficient.

*Haven't received your official IB diploma yet? You can give HAN University of Applied Sciences permission to verify your scores online on the IBO website. HAN's institute code is 035674.

To study Molecular Biosciences, you need to have Chemistry and Mathematics on your secondary school certificate. Biology is recommended.

To prove your proficiency in English, you have to do a language test. We accept:

• TOEFL iBT* score of 80 or higher
• IELTS (academic) score of 6.0 or higher with no sub-scores below 5.0
• Cambridge FCE Grade C minimum score 169 / CAE / CPE
• LanguageCert (academic) score of 65
• Pearson PTE (academic) score of 61
• TOEIC score of 865 for listening and reading and 335 for for speaking and writing

*Please note that home editions are not accepted. Only tests taken at an examination center are considered. Also, you can ask ETS TOEFL to send us your score directly by using the HAN University of Applied Sciences code: 7832.

Exemption to the language test requirement

You don't have to do a language test if:

• You have completed one of these baccalaureate programs: International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP), International Baccalaureate Careers-Related Program (IBCP) or European Baccalaureate (English Language 1 or 2).
• You completed your secondary or tertiary education in English in one of the following countries: Australia, Canada (not including Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand, U.S.A. or the U.K.
• You have one of the diplomas on this Nuffic list and English was part of the curriculum.

Note: there is no option to select Molecular Biosciences in Studielink. Instead, select Life Sciences. This is because Molecular Biosciences is a joint degree and the first two years of your study are identical to the Life Sciences program at HAN.

• If you still need to submit information, you will receive an email about it. This will also contain your login information for “My Application”.
• Log in to "My Application" to submit documents or details. You can also see the status of your submitted information here.
• It’s possible you only need to upload a passport photo. We use the photo for your HAN card, which you will need for all facilities on campus. 
• Have you applied for more than one program? Then you will see what info you still need to submit per program. 

You want to be sure the program is a good fit for you, right? That’s why at HAN you can participate in Matching. That includes filling in a self-reflection questionnaire. Then you can participate in one or more of our Matching activities, like a matching interview or becoming a student for a day. Each program has its own matching procedure. You’ll automatically be invited to schedule your Matching activities.

As part of the admission process for the Joint Degree in Molecular Biosciences, you also need to enroll at the University of Dundee. To enroll, you need to send the following documents to the admission department of Dundee:

• a motivation letter
• your CV

After you sent your documents, you will be invited for an (online) interview. In this interview, lecturers from Dundee will check if the program is a good fit for you. Please submit your documents to LSUGGeneral@dundee.ac.uk.

Ready to finalize your enrollment and become a HAN student? The final step, after submitting all necessary documents, is paying your tuition fee. Find out more about how to pay your tuition fee.

• Make sure you've finished steps 2, 3 and 4 before starting your program. Preferably a few weeks before. That way your enrollment is confirmed in time and you have access to all the facilities from the start of your studies.
• Go to Studielink to see if your enrollment in the program is confirmed.
