Highlights from the World Café

This event, funded by GO4EXPORT, brought together professionals, policymakers and researchers at the HAN Arnhem campus for an afternoon of knowledge exchange and shared reflection on the future of sustainable food systems. The event was opened by Professor Anna Sabidussi and ISB Dean Arjan Keunen, and created a constructive environment for discussing transition challenges in the Dutch and international agri-food landscape.

The program began with a research-based introduction by dr. Amir Moradi, research lead at CIBR, highlighting how interconnected systems and global developments shape the evolution of food production and distribution. Participants explored how collaboration, context awareness and long-term commitment influence the pace and direction of transitions.

Technology supports progress, but context understanding is essential to navigate complexity.

A panel discussion followed with Guido Laman from FoodValley, Bart Fischer from Oost NL, and Corné de Louw from Rabo Partnerships. They offered practical insights into innovation, financial alignment, risk reduction and the importance of understanding both global systems and local realities. This set the stage for World Café sessions in which participants examined economic, environmental, health-related, social and technological dimensions of the agri-food transition. The conversations were active, positive and forward-looking, reflecting the sector’s strong innovative capacity.

The afternoon concluded with shared reflections and networking moments that encouraged continued cooperation across research, policy and industry. Photos and short video impressions will be added to this page soon

Scaling solutions requires alignment across the value chain, from knowledge to finance and long-term commitment.
