HAN Wins International Award for Its Approach to Digital Educational Resources!
HAN embraces the development, open sharing, and (re)use of digital educational resources. Through our initiative, we’re working step by step toward our goal of making educational resources accessible to everyone. Our approach stands out globally. This led to two nominations for the OEGlobal Awards. Both the HAN approach to digital educational resources and the ‘ADL Escape Experience’ made it to the finals. The winners were announced during a livestream featuring nominees and stakeholders from 46 different countries. The tension was high, and the enthusiasm even greater when HAN was declared the winner in the “How We Share” category.

From Ambition to Practice
The jury views HAN as a strong example of how an ambitious strategy for open and digital educational resources can evolve into a sustainable, widely supported practice throughout the entire organization.
Since 2022, HAN has been working step by step to remove educational, legal, and technical barriers surrounding open educational resources. The jury highlights, among other things, the Content Support Team, the new competency profile for OER, and the inclusion of contributions to open educational resources in performance evaluations and recognition as key developments.
Escape Experience with a Serious Message
The HAN Escape Experience was also shortlisted for an award in the “What We Share” category. In this escape room, participants are introduced to open digital educational resources in an interactive way.
Over the course of 75 minutes, the experience playfully guides participants through key questions: What does “open” actually mean? Where can you find OER? How do you assess its quality? And how do you value the sharing of educational resources? Collaboration is essential here: participants can only escape by solving puzzles together.
Practice what you preach
The way HAN shares knowledge and resources is also appreciated. The Digital Educational Resources Toolbox, the ADL Escape Experience, and other resources are shared openly so that other educational institutions can learn from them and adapt the materials to their own contexts.
