From 8 to 12 May 2023 it's International Week! Together with our partners, we give workshops and lectures on topics related to the built environment, complimented with social events. Get to know students from other countries who follow the same study as you.

May 8 to 12, 2023

This year, the International Week Built Environment will take place in combination with the International Conference CITC. We will welcome students and colleagues from all around the world to our School of Built Environment in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Our school and programs endorse the UN Sustainable Development Goals, therefore the International Week program will include many topics related to sustainability.

Are you studying Architecture Engineering and Design or Civil Engineering and would you like to meet fellow students from other countries? Would you like to join them in interesting lectures, workshops, excursions and social events? Then register before April 26, 2023 for the International Week Built Environment. We'll see you soon at the HAN in Arnhem!

Program

Monday, May 8

Frank Spuij, dean of the School of Built Environment, opens the International Week Built Environment 2023 with a lunch. After the lunch we start with a very interesting lecture about Smart Grids. Thereafter a student takes you for a campus tour and drinks.

Tuesday, May 9

Presentations, workshops, key-note speaker, lunch walk, we have it all today. Join the interesting parts about Japan and resiliant building and housing, sustainable river management and learn some Dutch. And last but not least. Join the City tour in Arnhem which will end in a special bar.

Wednesday, May 10

Today we continue with part II of Japan. But first there is a field trip by bike to Arnhem to see some interesting architecture/building projects. We have lunch somewhere in Arnhem. After lunch you can join a lecture about the renovation of Palace 'Het Loo'. In the afternoon there are 2 social events with drinks and food.

Thursday, May 11

Today we leave Arnhem early to visit the Oosterscheldekering in the southwest of the Netherlands.This is the largest of the Delta Works, a series of dams and storm surge barriers, designed to protect the Netherlands. HAN students continue with part III of Resiliant Building and Housing.

Friday, May 12

On this final day we start with a presentation followed by an information meeting about studying abroad. After lunch we cycle to the Open Air Museum in Arnhem where we spend the afternoon and where we will officially close the International Week. We leave the bikes there and return to Arnhem by public transportation.

Exchange Courses and Internships

HAN University of Applied Sciences offers loads of professional programs in a wide range of fields. Students can choose from 63 bachelor programs, 19 master programs and numerous exchange programs. All of which combine a solid theoretical basis with practical application in the field. So they’re well positioned to enter the job market as soon as they graduate. HAN offers 5 English-taught bachelor programs and 2 English-taught master programs within the field of Engineering & Life Sciences. We have around 1,000 students from 30 different countries. And our main objective is to enhance employability and internationalization.
