What can you do with a degree in International Social Work? Anett Kis shows how far it can take you. After graduating from HAN, she now works in Dallas, Texas as an International and Community Social Worker for the State Secretariat for Hungarian Communities Abroad.

Anett's focus? Bringing people together across cultures. She organizes events, teaches language and culture classes, and creates content about living between 2 worlds. “I create spaces where people feel safe and truly connect.” Whether she’s hosting events for 100+ people or speaking at government gatherings, one thing stays the same: Anett builds bridges between cultures.

Ready for a changing world

“Why I chose International Social Work at HAN?” Anett thinks briefly and answers. “Because the world is more connected than ever. Globalization, migration and social media have changed everything. You need to be flexible and open to different cultures. ISW gave me that foundation.” Today, she uses those skills every day. Working with people from different backgrounds means constant learning. “It’s an ongoing exchange of cultures. You keep growing.”

Learn by doing

At HAN, you don’t just learn theory. You practice real-life situations. “Listening to understand, not just to respond, is essential. You learn that through discussions and working with your fellow students from all over the world.” Communication plays a big role in the program. “We practiced with actors. How do you handle real conversations? How do you stay respectful and clear? I still use those skills every day.”

Make an impact worldwide

Anett’s work didn’t go unnoticed. Within 6 months, she was named Scholar of the Month from among more than 130 participants. She organized major events, contributed to high-level meetings and traveled across 5 US states. Her story shows what’s possible with International Social Work. You don’t just gain knowledge, you develop the skills and mindset to make a real impact in an international world.
