Professor Balanced Energy Systems

Sadegh Seddighi

As a professor at the Research Center for Balanced Energy Systems, Sadegh Seddighi focuses on advancing sustainable energy solutions through innovative research and practical applications. Our goal is to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial implementation by fostering collaborations that drive the energy transition forward. My research specifically explores technologies for energy storage, hydrogen and alternative fuels, thermal management, smart energy systems and the integration of renewable energy sources. Working with local and international partners, the Research Center for Balanced Energy Systems contributes to the development of scalable, balanced energy solutions that benefit both industry and society. Our vision is to create a future where energy systems are more efficient, affordable, sustainable and resilient.

Research Group

Balanced Energy Systems

What is needed to ensure the constant availability of energy in the Netherlands? The Research Center Balanced Energy Systems contributes to the large and complex task of transitioning to sustainable energy by researching practical solutions to keep the energy system in balance. The research group is part of the HAN school of Engineering and Automotvie and has two program lines:

  • Flexible Energy Solutions

With increasing renewable electricity production and the also increasing demand for electricity, we are running into the limits of the current grid. The focus in this programme line is on developing, modelling and validating (hybrid) energy management systems, so-called (micro)grids.

    Engineering Hydrogen Systems

HAN has developed strongly in applied research and education in hydrogen technology over the past two decades. The Engineering Hydrogen Systems program line focuses on engineering issues in hydrogen systems, such as testing and integration of new components and optimization of control for efficiency and lifetime.
