HAN invests in biodiversity with its own forest

The HAN forest in Papendal will be a place where education, sustainability and community engagement come together. What makes this initiative so special? HAN students are helping to create the forest themselves. Starting in June 2026, every graduating student will receive their own tree. In the autumn, these graduation trees will be planted together on site, gradually forming the HAN forest.
Why a HAN forest?
The HAN forest brings together our sustainability ambitions, community involvement and connection with students and alumni. The forest creates space for plants, animals and insects and helps strengthen the region's natural environment. Each graduating student will receive their own tree as a lasting reminder of their time at HAN.
In partnership with Life Terra
HAN aims not only to educate for the future, but also to help build a region that can thrive for generations to come. With the HAN forest, we are investing in nature, connection and future generations. We are working in partnership with Life Terra, a European foundation dedicated to reforestation and ecosystem restoration. Their goal is to plant 500 million trees across Europe, which equates to one tree for every European resident. Want to know more about sustainability at HAN? Visit han.nl/duurzaam.
