HAN University of Applied Sciences (HAN) is shocked and concerned about the situation in Ukraine. “We are very sorry that our over 40 Ukrainian students find themselves in this extremely difficult situation. Their wellbeing is a priority to us. We are supporting and guiding these students where possible and we offer them a listening ear. That counts equally for our close to 30 students from Russia. They are entirely blameless and they too find themselves in a difficult situation”, says Rob Verhofstad, chair of the HAN Executive Board.
We have invited the students concerned to a meeting either on 7 or 8 March, to support them with practical matters and answer their questions. Let’s all gather around our Ukrainian and Russian students and colleagues and support them where possible. Talk with them, offer them a listening ear and a helping hand. Or contribute to the fundraising campaign being run by our international students by bringing clothing and blankets to room C1.01 at Ruitenberglaan 31, at the HAN Campus in Arnhem.
Finally, we’d like to express our hope that this war ends quickly. After all, wars never have winners, only losers.
