Check out the program for the HAN International Week Allied Health and Social Studies on day 1, Wednesday the 4th of February 2026. Lets open the week together at 9.30 AM with students, lecturers, the organisation and the Sounds of Change.

10.45-12.15: Sounds of Change

Music changes the world because it changes people

Trainers from Sounds of Change talk about their experiences working with music in conflict affected areas in the world. With the method they developed for Sounds of Change, they train other care providers to use the power of music as a means to establish connection, bring out creativity and to stimulate opportunities for healing and personal development. This of course includes many practical examples of making music with the audience.

14.30-16.00: Joost Seeger

The individual's living environment

In this lecture, senior researcher Joost Seeger takes you through the individual's living environment. We will explore what this environment actually means for our health, quality of life, and future opportunities. Health is often narrowed down to being solely an individual's responsibility, but the reality is much more complex. It is strongly linked to the immediate environment and the context in which someone lives and grows up. Using powerful examples, Joost demonstrates how the direct living environment—as well as societal changes—shape our lifestyle and health. The goal of this session is to challenge you to look at health from a broader perspective, rather than placing the responsibility entirely on the individual.
