Intro program: Life Sciences

Every day starts at the introduction area, also known as camp area. You can find the area at Rijksweg 7 in Malden. There are 2 options for introduction weeks for internationals. You can choose which one you like (and want to participate in). 

The first option (Option 1) is to follow the whole introduction, similar to the (Dutch) students of Bio-informatica, Biologie en Medisch Laboratoriumonderzoek and Chemie. You will have to sleep on the campsite and there won’t be time for anything else during this intro week. So you can’t go looking for houses or buy things for your stay in the Netherlands.

The second option (Option 2) is to only participate in the activities that are not on the campsite. 

A bicycle is a must during the week because the activities are on different sites in Nijmegen. Walking or public transport just takes too long and is sometimes simply not possible!

Your education does not have a program today, we start our intro tomorrow. 

Open Up Area

The Open Up Area is your base camp in the Introduction Week. For example, You can go here with questions about your program, or if you cannot find the building or room. It is the meeting place on the HAN campus with a cozy terrace and (live) music.

Make sure to stop by the Open Up Area to pick up your entrance ticket for the Open Up Festival on Thursday.

Today we welcome all new first year students who participate in the introduction programme Option 1. We will start with an introduction with your group and will then leave for the HAN to meet the teachers. After this we will explore the city with a crazy 88. In the evening we eat together at the campsite and then enjoy a pleasant evening full of singing.

When you choose Option 2, you will join the group when we arrive at school to meet with the teachers. You will also do the crazy 88 in the city. After the game you have a free evening.

In the morning, we will start with a nice round of morning gymnastics to shake everybody up. After breakfast, we go to Boules & Bites for different games. Early in the afternoon we will get to know Nijmegen even better through a pub crawl in the whole city. We will all eat somewhere in the city and there will be a theme party at the campsite to end the day well.

When you choose Option 2, you will go to Boules & Bites and the pub crawl. You won’t be joining for the theme party.

Today, after the usual round of morning gymnastics, we will start with a fun morning full of games at our campsite. Followed by the ‘worst time of the day’ (lunch) and the HAN festival.

When you choose Option 2, you will only party at the HAN festival.

Open Up Festival

When the mood is set and the first friendships have been made, it’s time to enjoy the Open Up Festival. The time has come to enjoy a party, but also relaxation and various activities. There will be something for everyone!

The entrance ticket is free for all new HAN students, you can pick it up in the Open Up Area on the HAN campus in Arnhem or Nijmegen.

The last day of the introduction already, what a pity! Organisation and students will clear everyone’s sleeping gear and then clear the rest of the grounds. When the cleaning is done, we go bowling and have lunch at Allround. Around 15:00 we gather at Laan van Scheut 2 where the final talk is held. Our intro will be finished around 16:00. 

When you choose Option 2, there won’t be a program for you this day.
